第二部 第十五课: to play hooky , to snap
- Michael 这个美国学生由於各方面的压力太大而情绪不太好。今天他想找李华一起出去放鬆放鬆。现在他正在敲李华的门。Michael 会教李华两个常用语：to play hooky 和 to snap。

- Yes, I'm supposed to be in class right now. But I didn't read the assignment for class today, and I just didn't feel like going, so I decided to play hooky.
- 你真够呛哎，没看今天上课的材料就不想去上课啊，还想在家玩什麼游戏！什麼是 hooky 呀？
- No, to play hooky means to skip class. Play is spelled p-l-a-y, Hooky, h-o-o-k-y.
- 哦～，原来 to play hooky 是指逃课、旷课的意思。我还以為是玩什麼游戏呢！嗯，Michael, 你要进来坐会儿吗？
- Actually, I was going to the student center to hang out and have lunch. I was wondering if you would like to come with me, Li Hua.

- I'm~, I'm sorry, Li Hua. I~, I didn't mean to snap at you. It's just that well right now I'm really stressed. That's part of the reason why I didn't go to class today.
- 没关係，我知道你最近压力很大。你说 「I didn't mean to snap at you", 那是什麼意思呀？是不是指你很生气跟我说话呢？
- Yes, Snap, s-n-a-p. To snap at someone means to yell at someone or talk to them in an angry way.
- 哦～，to snap at someone 就是说对某人大声嚷嚷，或者很生气地跟某人说话。Michael 啊，你一般不对人这麼说话的。我想可能是你最近压力真的很大。
- Yeah, but that's no excuse for snapping at you. I know you didn't mean to make me angry.
- 没关係，每个人都有情绪不好的时候嘛！Michael，我以前好像也听到别人用过 to snap at someone，可是我不太清楚它的意思。我记得有一次，是一个小孩说他打破了什麼东西．．．
- His mother must have snapped at him when he broke something at home.
- 对对对对对，他是说他妈妈骂他因為他打破了个花瓶。哎，可是 Michael，这裡的 snap 是过去式，那应该怎麼拼呢？
- Past tense for snap is snapped, s-n-a-p-p-e-d. I can say, "I snapped at you but I apologized."
- 哎呀，不好了，时间到了，我得去上班囉。See you later, Michael!
